The Major Arcana Tarot Cards have long been an artistic challenge for a great many artists - and I have finally been able to start on this unique collection of illustrations. While the journey to create these works will be tedious and long, I am looking forward to the challenge. As I researched this first piece, The Hierophant, I discovered that a lot of Tarot renditions stay true to the original cards - and I am going to do that in spirit, but I also think that adding my personal interpretations is important to the work as well. So this first piece, and the pieces that follow will have a short interpretation of the meaning of the image, based on my beliefs and philosophies that tie in with the connotation of the original cards.

The World card was challenging, as I wanted to capture a cosmic-yet-Mother-Earth feel, and break out of the monochromatic color schemes of the previous cards, Death and The Hierophant. All in all, I like the composition of this piece and the way the eye moves around the page, and was very happy with the haphazard color scheme.
