1998

This was an older piece, and actually the first vertical layout that I attempted. Now, looking at my work, that is what I have stuck with for over a year, but I soon plan to change that orientation. This print was extremely difficult to produce, due to the amount of black, which is why I only made one. The poetry is quite graphic, it reads:

'She is the light by which I walk by on my path. The night wraps itself around me like cold, spindly fingers of carrion and bone. She illuminates this small corner of my abyss. I bask in her light. I feel her warmth on my cold soul. It fills me with hope I cannot have, with happiness I will never feel. I turn and walk away, her radience slipping away into the darkness. As I look back, the lonliness engulfs me. But, for just a moment, one fleeting moment, I can feel her again.

I think this is one of my more successful poems, but a bit long. It seemed to bring out something in me that was pretty surprising. When I write, I let the words come out without thinking too much about them, and then I work out the small details. This is one of my more favorite writings. The original of this piece sold in 2002.
