- - - [ MIDSUMMER'S EVE ] - - -

2005

This is the third piece in the melding of my previous style to the current, more illustrative one. I wanted to do an 'Eve' piece that was a little darker and more contemplative than what is traditionally seen. I liked that this "garden" is a little more barren than what people usually visualize.

This new look, coupled with a new method of production is producing unbelievable quality artwork and I am excited for more and more people to see them. I hope that you'll have time to view the work and take a moment to give me your thoughts about it. Contrary to what most artists think, I prefer to make sure that my work communicates the ideas I want to convey in a way that people easily understand and feel.

My work is about illustrating a story, and this new style is letting me experiment with fantastical backgrounds and allows me to really delve into the environment the model is in. I have foregone some of my signature texturing and depth to achieve a more realistic quality and I would very much like to hear from everyone their opinions on this current look.

I know that I mention it on every piece, but I can't stress enough how great this artwork looks up close. I am very happy with these Giclee prints and know that you will be just as taken with them as I am. A special thanks goes to Rick Opiola for allowing me to use his stunning photography again (His work is also featured in At the Gates of Winter) and for his lovely model Lux.
