About two months ago, I was accepted to be part of Spookyart.com - I have categorically refused to be in "groups" for many years, simply because I'm not a "group" kinda guy. However, instead of doing all the normal "group" things, such as writing, sharing opinions and creating themed artwork - I thought I would try to band some artists together to really make a difference. To try and use our work and vision in a positive way - helping someone who needs it. So the Spookyart.com Charity Project was born, and am happy to say that I was able to gather a great group of 15 artists to rally to the cause. The theme? Angels and Demons - most appropriate!

This original artwork will be auctioned off through Ebay's Giving Works for the benefit of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the JRDF and the auction will begin on April 10. I wanted to capture the essence of both 'Angel' and 'Demon' for this project. I wondered 'how would an angel feel if it were banished to Hell? What would it look like? How would it be transformed?' So I set out to try and create a piece that reflected the lonliness of a fallen angel and it's curiosity of what happens next. Rather than crowd the image full of demons, I chose to give it an aire of reflective solitude. I particularly like the Hellfire creeping up on the bright, vivid colors of heaven - slowly taking away the hues of greens, purples and blues - replacing it with fiery reds and yellows.
