2004

After Adonis was born from the Myrrha tree, Aphrodite, for the sake of his beauty, hid him in a chest unknown to the gods and entrusted it to Persephone. But when Persephone beheld him, she would not give him back and over time, turned Adonis into her lover. When Aphrodite returned to claim him, Persephone refused to turn him over, leading to a dispute of epic porportions that the Zeus himself could no longer ignore. The grievance was now to be decided by his daughter and Muse Calliope, and her judgement was that the two Goddesses would share custody of Adonis. The year was divided into two with Persephone for one part, and with Aphrodite for the remainder. Aphrodite, desiring Adonis all to herself, became enraged at the decision of Calliope and vowed revenge. Persephone, not enthralled with the decision herself could not convince the powers that be of Hades to side against the judgement of Calliope, much to her chagrin.

"This piece really emanates power, which I always felt Persephone had plenty of. Commanding the powers of Hades wasn't small potatoes, and I felt that if she were extremely pissed off, rage would emanate from her in waves."
